My childhood dream has come true! I won the Best Actress award in a major NYC Film Festival last night!
Thank you for allowing me to share this amazing news with you. Your support through the years has meant so much to me.
Thrilling! My first acceptance speech for an acting role in a film! A childhood dream come true!
The brilliant young “Best Director” DJ Higgins who won a National Italian American Foundation grant funded by the great Hollywood producers, the Russo Brothers (Captain America, the Avengers) to film SANTINO. DJ wrote the script and filmed it in ONE DAY to become a multiple award-winning short film! An incredible accomplishment for a director! Considered almost impossible by Industry Standards! BRAVO DJ!
And with the supremely talented, actress, writer, artist – ANGELA RAGO – who was heart of the film as “Nonna” – BRAVA Angela for your tremendous work and for you warm and wonderful personality! We love you! (in photo: Artie Pasquale, star of film and TV)
Thank you to the “Best Actor” Artie Pasquale for introducing me to DJ as a possible casting choice for the zany, heartwarming character of the cousin who is an opera singer who comes for Sunday dinner! Would this be considered “type casting”! LOL!
On set with our scenic designer, the talented Karynn Summers!
It was a special day filming on City Island in the Bronx – Karynn created a family dinner on set – her use of the space available was brilliant.
Thank you and Kudos to Kathrina Miccio, founder, curator and organizer of the first-annual “Cutting Room International Short Film Festival” – Producers and directors came from all over the world – including Mumbai, India (Winner – VViplav Subhash Shinde) and Hollywood. Sold-out! Amazing work by extraordinary film makers!
On the Red Carpet with Best Director, DJ Higgins –

SANTINO also won at the Big Apple Film Festival last year! I couldn’t attend as I was in Washington DC at the NIAF Gala! Here is our wonderful producer, Julie Robinson, holding the award! BRAVA Julie and Thank You for this great opportunity!
